FAQ

The TrimUI Smart Pro is considered user-friendly and suitable for those new to retro gaming. Its compact design, straightforward interface, and support for various emulators make it an excellent choice for beginners. However, some technical knowledge may be required for tasks like adding new games or updating firmware. This is why this knowledge base was created.

Some units may come with an SD card pre-loaded with games, while others may not. It’s essential to verify this with the seller before purchasing. If your device doesn’t come with games, you’ll need to source and load them onto an SD card yourself. It is not recommended to buy a preloaded SD card due to quality concerns. Making your own and loading your own games might take some time but will provide a more robust experience.

While modern devices are designed to handle overnight charging, it’s generally recommended to unplug the device once it’s fully charged to preserve battery health. Continuous charging after reaching 100% can potentially degrade the battery over time. Make sure to never charge your Trimui with a power brick that doesn’t supply the right amount of voltage or amps. Check our power brick guide.

The screens on both devices are plastic and can scratch or smudge easily. Applying a glass screen protector can help prevent damage and reduce smudges, enhancing the longevity and clarity of the display. It isn’t a requirement but it is recommended.

Press and hold the power button for at least 20 seconds. This initiates a hardware forced shutdown. If it does not work, hold down the power button and volume down button simultaneously for the same amount of time. Then try to reboot the device.

If your SD card isn’t recognized, try formatting it to the FAT32 file system and ensure it’s properly seated in the slot. If the issue persists, test the SD card on another device to rule out potential defects. Using a reputable brand and ensuring the card is free from corruption can also help prevent recognition issues.

If your Trimui keeps loading back into the same thing when you turn it on, holding power and menu should resolve this.
